Having a strong PERSONAL BRAND is one of the most important and powerful things you can create for yourself. Amongst the thousands of CVs an employer could get - how can you stand out in the insanely crowded application game? A strong personal brand that is what. Not sure what I mean by a personal brand? These elements all make up a personal brand: logo, fonts, colours, prints and patterns, CV, cover letter, portfolio, website design, domain, business cards, social accounts, your email address, YOU, the way you conduct yourself in an interview, what you wear, the language you use, your email dialect. I cannot stress how important your personal brand is and being CONSISTENT is the KEY. Think about every point of contact an employer will have with you; from your logo on your CV, to the little icon on your Gmail account, to the header on your LinkedIn account - it’s all IMPORTANT and part of brand you!
Do your RESEARCH; what brands do you feel most drawn to? Get inspired.
Do remain imaginative and authentic. How can you stand out?
Do understand what EXCITES you. If you can transfer this into your brand. WINNING.
Be afraid to showcase YOUR personality.Daring or minimal? It doesn’t matter which, just as long as it’s done well.
Forget your VALUES. Are you fun, imaginative, forward thinking? Pump them into your brand.
Be INCONSISTENT. This is the NUMBER ONE rule.
