Sometimes you can feel like you are on the right track to world-fashion-domination and other times you may lack that go-get-it attitude that perhaps you were rocking just the week before. It’s TOTALLY normal. Whether it’s hormones, tiredness, self-doubt, life dramas or a combo of everything – it can all play a part in your day to day working life.
What to do when you don't feel like your BEST you:
1. Remember remember
With so many deadlines or internship duties, it can cloud the reason why you are doing all the hard work that you are. So think about what made you want to be a part of the fashion industry in the first place, and use that as your motivation to keep on going!
2. All talk
I find that when you haven’t spoken to a family member or your bezzie for what feels like a decade, telling them what you’ve been up to and what your goals are can remind you that what you are doing is exciting – you are working for your ultimate career goal whatever that may be so let them be your cheerleader!
3. Take a break
When you schedule your internships make sure you look ahead in your calendar. Big deadlines due just before? Rethink starting a new internship the Monday after you have just handed in. The tiredness will catch up with you big time, trust me I have done the research for you. Instead a week between placements gives you a bit of breathing space to catch up on your own life stuff.
4. Self-care any day
We all know taking a step back when you are feeling a little overwhelmed, is the best remedy. Down tools; laptop, sketchbook, emails, social media and go do some more of what makes you HAPPY and RELAXED. Cinema with friend's, Netflix binge, a bubble bath, getting your nails done, a nice country walk...
